At the recent CMG World Robot Skills Competition in Beijing, Ariemedi, a startup incubated by the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), unveiled its innovative puncture navigation surgical robot. This advanced robot, equipped with the Ruitong MAX-Vision camera, offers a 3D imaging display that vividly highlights blood vessels, nerves, and organs, resembling "X-ray vision".

The robotic arm flexibly maneuvers over a human body model, accurately reaching the puncture site along a pre-planned route, impressing attendees with its accuracy and sophistication.
The puncture navigation surgical robot showcased at the event integrates cutting-edge technologies from multiple disciplines, including optical and magnetic navigation, medical image processing, and robotic arm motion control. It is the result of a collaborative effort between BIT and Ariemedi, representing a successful outcome of their joint research and development.

This robotic system offers sub-millimeter positioning accuracy and can integrate critical structural information extracted from preoperative CT/MR images with real-time intraoperative ultrasound images. It compensates for respiratory motion to correct positioning drift, enhancing the precision and safety of punctures.
Ideal for navigating and positioning in adult lung and abdominal solid organ surgeries, it supports over 20 procedures, including microwave/cryoablation, biopsy, radiofrequency, brachytherapy, and drainage, with great potential for widespread application.
From the initial technological prototype in the lab to a market-competitive product, BIT has provided comprehensive support in terms of policy assistance, resource coordination, and technical guidance. In the future, the university plans to further refine its operational mechanisms to offer precise and efficient technology transfer services, aiming to increase investment in research and innovation, optimize the environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, and incubate more high-tech enterprises. These efforts are intended to contribute wisdom and strength to the development of China's robotics industry and the pursuit of technological self-reliance and self-improvement.
